razorshapes:

Brood by Kate MccGwire. Initially it may seem like an innocently patterned spiral of some 23,000 chicken wishbones bearing all the happy optimism this material evokes, but look again and you will see that the symbolism of hope has been subsumed by the sheer quantity of materials used. En masse the bones recall a cull, a killing field, the horrors of genocide and slaughter of innocents.

Phin & Phebes Ice Cream

Packaging design inspired by a test kitchen chalkboard.

“We launched our Phin & Phebes Ice Cream pint business in late November of 2011. Previously we were testing our ice cream at markets and fairs and selling scoops up until we launched our wholesale business. The inspiration for the package design and illustrations come from our chalkboard wall at home in our Test Kitchen where I have sketched out and written down our ice cream flavor offerings. Inspiration was also pulled from my ice cream flavor prototype sketches. We believe that eating ice cream should be a fun whimsical experience and our ice cream is uniquely formulated to tap into your inner child. The result is our package design that we believe helps evoke this experience.”
